Our municipal water efficiency plan (Water Smart Peel) is exploring new ways to minimize the (quantitative and qualitative) impacts of residential stormwater on natural waterways. Thus far we promote and sell rain barrels, which reduce tap water consumption and stormwater flows. Alas, thus far, precious few people embrace the barrel. We're looking for other possible ways that owners of existing homes can effectively manage their own rainwater. Any direction is appreciated.

Out here in San Juan County (20 miles from the coast of Washington State) I promote Low Impact development (LID) as a tool to do this.
