Hi,

I'm currently working on an undergraduate thesis project at Trent University in Ontario. As a first step, I'm developing a definition of community based management that affirms resident's needs to become involved in the protection and conservation of their region. I am interested in exploring the links between protected areas management in the developing world and in Canada. By answering these 5 questions, you would be helping me develop this definition. Thanks for your time.

1 - Is your professional work related to either protected areas management or community based resource management?
2 - In your opinion, what are the three most important signifiers of community? (E.g. communication, geographic proximity, common interests, mutual respect, class, level of education, etc.)
3 - In your opinion, does community based resource management exist in Canada (and the first world)?
4 - Do you think there is a need for more community involvement in the conservation of Canada (and the first world's) natural spaces?
5 - Should/can community based management be facilitated at the international level?

Thanks again. You can email your response to [email protected].
