Hi there,
I would like info on which wins at present between diesel and petrol in new vehicles. Those that are under 3 years old or under 100,000km. I am trying to give advice on what is the most sustainable for the pocket and the environment.
Thanks for any help

My understanding is that diesel vehicles in Europe burn much cleaner than those in the U.S. Two of the smartest renewable energy proponents I know have bought slightly older VW Jettas, which are diesel, and fuel them with biodiesel when it is available. For some reason, they are not happy with the new VW Jetta engines. I'm debating on whether to get a Toyota Prius or Honda Civic hybrid -- trying to guess which is going to have a good add-on plug-in feature first. Someone told me the Prius being sold in Europe has this feature. The batteries will be a wonderful way to store renewable energy/electricity being generated all around me by big wind turbines. The farmers in my area (SE MN USA) love the turbines, since they are getting additional money from having them on their farms. I think they are beautiful and hope there won't be an anti-turbine backlash here like the one someone from Colorado said is going on in his area. I love birds, bats and quiet as much as the next person; but whenever someone mentions problems with wind turbines, such as a few birds and bats being killed and a little noise, I talk about all the horrific health and environmental problems being caused by coal and nuclear plants that most people don't seem to know much about. I often wonder just who is leading the campaign against wind turbines and what their motives are. I also read that something is being redesigned in the big turbines to warn the bats and birds to avoid them.
