Greetings,
I work for the City of Santa Barbara Creeks Division and we are initiating a follow-up public opinion research (telephone) survey to help us measure change in awareness and behaviors as they relate to storm water quality and urban runoff. Does anyone have recommendations for public opinion research firms in California that are familiar with social marketing behavior change concepts, and ideally have experience in the realm of water quality and public opinion? Any feedback would be very much appreciated.
Thank you!

Hi Jessica (and others)
I have an extensive collection of polls on this subject available at this address: http://del.icio.us/waterwordsthatwork/cleanwater Feel free to browse, because the quality of the poll write-ups varies pretty widely. Some pollsters interpret the results and speculate about what the answers mean and what you should do about it. Others are very cautious, letting the percentages do the talking. I'd suggest you browse the collection, find some report write-ups that seem to fit the bill for you, and contact those firms for a quote. It's less important to work with a local firm, and more important to work with a firm that has a track record for producing the kind of documentation that you'd like to see. I've worked with a few of them, I'll be happy to provide a reference offline. ***

Hi Jessica,
You might want to try Meta Research; they could probably fit the bill. We have used Meta Research the last several years for our Public Opinion telephone surveys both for our stormwater and pesticide surveys. I know that there are other research firms that are equally qualified including Aurora Research and JD Franz. All three are local to Central/Northern California. They all can be contacted by searching the Web for their contact info.
