Has anyone done any work with event or conventions centers to reduce idling by shuttle vehicles and/or semi's delivering materials for large events? There are a few challenges:
o the drivers are not always the same as in school bus drivers
o event planners believe that by not idling busses (controlling climate or speed of service) they are compromising customer service
o idling ordinance enforcement is insufficient do to limited resources
o culture of long-haul truck drivers is to idle
o event attendees are not invested in the community surrounding the event location
o event center is slightly resistant to signage
I see links with recycling at events/airports when attendees have a limited investment in their surroundings. Any thoughts??
