Hi
I've recently been employed to conduct a training program for local councils that seeks to build the capacity of a group of water educators in order to increase delivery of leading practice water education projects across the sector. If anyone knows of any good resources that are available regarding 'best practice' in educating for sustainability/water and could point me in the direction it would be much appreciated.
Thanks again,
Sarah

An excellent web resource for peer reviewed water curricula is:
http://wateroutreach.uwex.edu/
There is a lot there. Be sure to dig through it.

Sarah,
Here's a collection of websites that I have found useful in promoting water education from the basics of hydrology to smart growth planning for sustaining water resources. http://www.carleton.edu/departments/geol/DaveSTELLA/Water/hydrosphere_mo dels.htm http://www.epa.gov/smartgrowth/pdf/waterresources_with_sg.pdf http://www.vims.edu/bridge/
Good luck,

Great timing on this. Our Saskatchewan Environmental Society, Destination Conservation Saskatchewan Education Program is looking for more information on sustainable water use as well. We would like specifically to teach how and why to reduce the use of bottled water. We like to use active learning, so info and activity based programs would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Sarah,
Check out our new Stormwater Management Manaul for Western Australia. It has rather a lot of information on best managment practices including non structural controls which include education programs. See: http://portal.water.wa.gov.au/portal/page/portal/WaterManagement/Stormwa ter/StormwaterMgtManual
To roll out this manual, we are currently developing a capacity building program which contains various options for the education of water professionals. WA has also recently launched the New WAter Ways website and program which will build capacity for all watery issues. Refer http://www.newwaterways.org.au/
The consultant we are using to assist us is from Batkin Walkerden Associates who are based in Sydney. They designed the excellent Urban Water Info site: http://urbanwaterinfo.com/
Another excellent program we are taking a lot of lead from is the Melbourne Water Clearwater program. Refer http://www.clearwater.asn.au/
Feel free to give me a call at the Department of Water in WA if you need any further assistance or want to share ideas.
Cheers
Sandra
