PROJECT WARM

I live in Maine, last winter was very hard on many people ( especially elderly and people on fixed incomes ) and this winter we expect it to be even worse we are making an effort to help and offer assistance "PROJECT WARM" is a collaborative community program to help people:

~ Have a WARMING CENTER for people to go to during the day to save on fuel costs and be in a place where they can see other people, food, T.V. Etc etc. We have a primary center with proper protocol and we are brain storming different needs and how to address them. It is a learning curve and will be helpful if there are disasters such as the ice storm. We also have a second and third location depending on the need.

~ EDUCATION ON SAVING ENERGY KEEPING THERE HOMES WARM - we are getting great support from our local newspaper, lake region T.V. and businesses. The elderly may need help in stopping drafts or something as simple as cutting out cardboard to fit a basement window. Tips and real keep it simple ways to be warm. We will be donating warm blankets a simple cover for when they are watching T.V. At home. Also small cube heaters on loan for just a room. If there are any organizations doing this we could use some suggestions. and would also help other clubs that may want to start a similar project.

Thank you in advance
