Cool Aquidneck Island, a community group promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy in three towns, has developed or been invited to join many project ideas. While a few of the projects are being run by local organizations (church, town commission), we are finding it difficult to identify a champion/organizer for most of the others. Many of the projects may be less attractive because they have no direct contact with one another (projects with the schools, utility programs for small business, issue advocacy with the press) and require only a few people each. This means that project leaders are independent and somewhat isolated.

We have so far resisted creating an umbrella organization for these projects, only a wiki to chronicle and promote them. We are not, of course, just looking to push the projects that have been suggested (most of them at our Idea Auction: http://aisavesenergy.wikispot.org/Idea_auction); we are trying to encourage individuals or groups to promulgate any ideas they favor.

We are trying to use CBSM ideas to enrich each individual project, but appear to need to do the same thing with our overall recruitment of project leaders. Significant structural changes may be called for. I would be grateful for suggestions.
