I am planning to test the use of social norms with 2 college dorms (one experimental and one control). We will be tracking recycling tonnage before and after the intervention. We will be surveying students attitudes before and after the intervention. The intervention will include a small group of students that we fully educate about recycling. We will ask them to go about their daily business but with recycling on their mind. Hopefully catching people not recycling and asking them to recycle.
Has anyone conducted a survey such as this? Do you have any recommendations for survey questions? Are there better ideas for the intervention out there?
Any advice or help is appreciated.

I don't know if the University of British Columbia has done anything specifically like what you are proposing, but they have done quite a bit with their students. They have a closed-vessel composter on campus for example.
