Currently I am in Belize and working on incorporating more permaculture into a farm here. One thing I would really like to do is construct a compost bin. The problem is that I only have experience doing so in Minnesota, where excess rain and a variety of predators are not a problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Nate

When I lived in San Diego (warm, sunny, dry climate), I learned about the Dutch composting method. Holland is cool and damp yet the same method worked in San Diego as there. I have no direct experience with your climate, but it might work in Belize.
I simply dug a hole in the ground in my backyard, put in kitchen organics (non meat) and covered with a black garbage bag (to retain the sun's heat). Within a week, the critters in the soil had converted it to soil.
Why not try this with a small amount of waste and see how it works?
Someone with direct experience, of course, would know a lot more than me!
