City of Cape Town is implementing its WasteWise programme and as marketing and communications/behaviour change consultant I am recommending social marketing research methods beforehand and afterwards. Can anyone point me to good sources or pre-existing questionnaire and analysis formats that could be used as a basis? There would be waste minimisation, litter reduction, illegal dumping reduction and increasing recycling in the mix, to residents, schools and also commerce and industry.
Thanks

A few of us here in Cincinnati, OH are advocating to use community-base social marketing to improve our recycling program. I'll follow up on this blog thread and would like to keep you informed/share documents. Thanks.

We had another meeting regarding the Cincinnati Social Peer Group Marketing and an idea was floated to use Google Maps as the neighborhood peer group pressure. Does anyone have experience using Google Maps along with Facebook to create neighborhood peer group pressure? We may be able to post the dumping of our recycling bins on Google maps because they have radio transmitters attached to each bin. We're worried about disclosing private information so we may only be able to display bin use by zip code. Similar to the census data. Any reply would be appreciated.

Thurston County in Washington State U.S. has a very effective waste and recovery program. I am not directly associated with the program but the following website may assist you: www.co.thurston.wa.us/wwm/Recycling_and_Disposal/recycling_and_disposal_home.htm
