*Request for Proposals*

Release Date: January 3, 2012
Response Date: January 27, 2012

Issued by
The Oberlin Project, Education Committee

Description
The Oberlin Project seeks proposals to assist in the research and development of a comprehensive Education for Sustainability Curriculum at the K-12 Oberlin City School District (OCSD), and 11th and 12th grade career development courses at the Lorain County Joint Vocational School (LCJVS). Curricular development at the K-12 level requires integration within core standards and competencies, and Education for Sustainability will specifically motivate students to understand, value, and implement solutions to issues of climate change and environmental sustainability in the classroom, in their own homes, and in the wider community.

The consultant(s) will work directly with the OCSD superintendent and curriculum coordinator, International Baccalaureate (IB) coordinators, LCJVS Director of Academic services, LCJVS Curriculum Director, teachers, the Oberlin Project Education Committee, and Oberlin Project staff and representatives to assist in the redesign of core curriculum to include sustainability concepts across all disciplines, with implementation beginning in the 2012/2013 school year. Work will be in tandem with current IB curriculum redesign efforts at all four campuses of the Oberlin City School District. Existing Education for Sustainability frameworks and programs have been researched and those with the most relevance to this project have been identified.
