Dear all CBSM followers, users and aficionados,

my name is Max Deuble. Currently I'm a PhD student working on the final stages of writing my PhD thesis, entitled 'Green Occupants for Green Buildings', which is due to be submitted in June 2012. Hoping to graduate with a Doctorate in Environmental Science, my initial aim now is to seek some work opportunities and/or experience in which to apply my knowledge, further develop my skills and gain some much needed experience in the workplace.

To summarize, my postgraduate research over the last 5 years has focused specifically on climate change mitigation and energy conservation in the built environment. In 2007, my Honours thesis considered the cultural barriers to energy conservation programs which found that corporate dress codes, combined with a lack of knowledge and awareness of sustainability issues, were key obstacles faced by Management intending to implement new corporate sustainability programs. More recently, my PhD thesis explores and demonstrates how occupant expectations and environmental attitudes influence thermal comfort and occupant satisfaction within green buildings, especially those featuring mixed-mode and natural ventilation. Results obtained from POEs, supplemented with an environmental attitudes questionnaire, as well as longitudinal thermal comfort studies, indicate that occupants with higher levels of environmental concern, i.e. environmental attitudes, were more forgiving of their buildings less-than-ideal indoor environmental conditions. Additionally, occupants expectations and perception of control were found to have a significant effect on their thermal sensations.

Since attending Doug McKenzie-Mohr's Introductory and Advanced training courses earlier this year in Melbourne, I have been quite inspired to apply my newly found levels of knowledge and skills in CBSM and sustainable behaviour programs, alongside my extensive knowledge and expertise in energy conservation, thermal comfort and post-occupancy evaluations in an applied setting.

To list my skills and qualifications in this forum would be quite exhaustive. However, suffice it to say that I possess excellent verbal and written communication skills from writing conference papers and peer-reviewed journals articles and presenting at several international conferences. I also have very strong data and statistical analysis skills using Microsoft Excel, MiniTab and SPSS, which I have used extensively throughout my University education.

As I near the stage of submitting my final thesis, I am in the search of some work due to the fact that I am currently unemployed. Hence I am posting this thread in the hopes that someone might be able to help me in this regard. At this point in time I'm simply looking for any work, whether they be volunteer, temporary, contract, or short-term based as I envision the experience gained through such opportunities as very worthwhile to my future career prospects. Even if the task is data entry or spreadsheet analysis I would be very happy to offer my services.

Does anyone know of any organisations, or if they work for organisations, that might have some potential work opportunities? Furthermore, if you would like me to send a copy of my CV and qualifications, then feel free to email me at: [email protected]
