The Office of Sustainability seeks an experienced and committed Outreach Program Manager to lead and manage the outreach, campus education and training components of the Offices sustainability programs and services. This position will advance outreach and educational aspects of program management in sustainability campaign design and execution, print and media publications, staff and student training, within the framework of the strategic vision for sustainability at Stanford http://sustainable.stanford.edu/vision>.

The ideal candidate will come from a sustainability communications and management background with proven industry work experience in program design and delivery. The incumbent must be self-directed, have a suite of creative skills, proven work portfolio and the ability to manage teamwork when appropriate. Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Policy and/or Communications, plus a minimum of five years work experience in the fields of sustainability. Graduate degree in business or communications preferred.
Ability to manage a complex and often competing set of priorities in a high-pressure, results-oriented environment.
Strong communications skills, both written and oral (including proofreading) and ability to use sound judgment in following policies and procedures, using creativity to solve problems.
High degree of discretion and judgment; ability to resolve complex and difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.
Must possess strong organizational, time management and project management skills, with the ability to support multiple projects of various types at difference stages with emphasis on accuracy and meeting milestones and deadlines.
Articulate audience motivations, product/program benefits, and recommend key messages. Utilize best practices and direct marketing techniques to reinforce effectiveness.
Demonstrated knowledge of marketing and PR issues and their application in the complex university setting is highly desirable.
High degree of energy and initiative, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Demonstrated skill in public speaking and comfort in representing the university and the department to the community and general public.
Demonstrated skill in the use of spreadsheets, database programs, and word processing programs and basic-intermediate skills in creative programs suits (Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator and/or Photoshop)

Must be able to demonstrate:
Work portfolio: writing samples, marketing program samples
Employee may be required to use a Stanford vehicle to conduct business and must possess (or be able to obtain) a valid California drivers license. This position does have occasional overnight travel and participation in some local evening and weekend events.
