Job Title: Commercial Building Energy Specialist

Company Background: Empower Efficiency is a small and growing consulting company combining social psychology, consumer-focused programming, community-based social marketing principles, and technology solutions to drive changes in consumer and organizational behavior. Our focus is on improving energy efficiency in commercial and residential buildings.
Position Overview: This position is part of Step Up and Power Down, a partnership between PG&E and the Cities of San Francisco and San Jose. We are seeking a versatile team member to collaborate with Empower Efficiency staff, client stakeholders, and initiative partners to lead the following tasks:

Conduct Behavior-Based Energy Assessments for participating large companies in San Francisco and San Jose
o Work with Step Up and Power Down project team and client to set up and prepare half-day and full-day energy assessments
o Conduct the on-site assessment of energy use practices (how occupants and operators use technology)
o Conduct interviews with key company personnel and focus groups
o Review assessment data from each building participant, analyze data, and summarize findings
o Work with PG&E and consultant team engineers to determine potential energy savings impact of recommendations
o Schedule and conduct follow up meetings to share assessment results

Contribute to and support the overall strategy for future use of Behavior-based Energy Assessments by other entities and for additional business sectors (hospitality, retail, technology)
o Collaborate on the development of assessment method and approach to documentation and reporting of findings
o Develop training material and train client and other team members on the behavior assessment purpose and methodology
o Advise on development of streamlined assessment methodology for small and medium customers

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business or related field
Professional certification(s) pertinent to position (e.g., CEM, LEED-AP, etc.)
Three to seven (3 to 7) years of experience with building technology use and energy waste-reducing options, especially occupant-controlled energy actions
Strong oral and written communication skills, including experience in preparing and delivering presentations
Ability to work independently and as a member of many teams at once
Well-organized and self-motivated with the ability to work at home or with others
Ability to design work plans
Ability to prioritize and meet goals under strict deadlines, multiple tasks, and changing priorities
High attention to detail
Ability to work productively while juggling competing priorities and tight deadlines
Highly competent with standard software applications, including: word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and presentations; experience with graphic design software a plus
Some familiarity with behavior science fundamentals and community-based social marketing would be a plus

Compensation: Commensurate with experience
