I will be delivering introductory and advanced community-based social marketing training in Melbourne, Canberra and Perth in March of 2019. These workshops will be of particular interest to agencies working to control invasive species, promote energy efficiency, waste reduction, conservation, water efficiency, sustainable food consumption, modal transportation changes and other sustainable actions. Community-based social marketing is a unique approach to fostering both environment and health related behavioural changes and is now being utilized globally. Descriptions of these workshops are provided below. Please note that these are the only workshops that I am providing in Australia in 2019 and that the workshops in Canberra and Perth will not be offered again for four or five years.

Who should Attend?

These workshops will be of interest to those working to promote control of invasive species, waste reduction, water and energy efficiency, conservation, modal transportation changes, watershed protection, and other sustainable behaviour changes. Those who work to promote behavioural changes that promote health, such as active lifestyles, sun protection and immunization, will also benefit from attending. Descriptions of both workshops are provided below.

Introductory Workshop: The two-day introductory workshop provides a comprehensive introduction to community-based social marketing and how it is being applied throughout the world to foster sustainable behaviours. Those who attend the workshop will learn the five steps of community-based social marketing (selecting behaviours, identifying barriers, developing strategies, conducting pilots, and broad scale implementation) and be exposed to numerous case studies illustrating its use. Each participant will receive a copy of the third edition of "Fostering Sustainable Behaviour: An Introduction to Community-Based Social Marketing." The introductory workshop is a mandatory prerequisite for the advanced workshop.

Advanced Workshop: This two-day workshop provides a comprehensive introduction to community-based social marketing and how it is being applied throughout the world to foster sustainable and healthy behaviour. Those who attend the workshop will learn the five steps of community-based social marketing (selecting behaviours, identifying barriers, developing strategies, conducting pilots, and broad scale implementation) and be exposed to numerous case studies illustrating its use. As such, this workshop provides an in-depth exposure to community-based social marketing and provides participants with the knowledge they need to design and evaluate their own community-based social marketing programs. Further, attendees will have extensive opportunities to discuss the application of community-based social marketing to the design of actual programs. At the end of the two days participants will have acquired sufficient knowledge to use community-based social marketing to develop successful programs to foster sustainable and healthy behaviour. This workshop is a mandatory prerequisite for attending the advanced community-based social marketing workshop with Dr. McKenzie-Mohr.
