You might also check out the Alliance to Save Energy's Green Campus Program, http://ase.org/section/program/greencampus/. This student leadership program provides paid interns to work on saving energy on campus, particularly in dorms and student-run buildings such as student unions. Interns work with facility staff, administrators and faculty for guidance and are trained and supported by the Alliance. Interns also facilitate credit courses on sustainability, work on procurement issues on campus and educate the general population about efficiency opportunities and progress. Some examples of creative student activities include a student-made film called "Green Eye for the Conventional Gal," playing off the popular TV show "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy", energy-saving dorm competitions, and campaigns to get students to use power strips to reduce standby losses from appliances and chargers.
