Looking for Survey Questions to Help Measure Youth (5th Grade - High School)

I would like to conduct a survey of youth (5th grade - high school age) to measure their interest, attitudes and involvement in environmental issues from recycling to not littering to being involved in environmental related groups or clubs or other environmental causes, etc. If anyone would be willing to share your survey questions that have been written and used successfully to help measure some of these things among youth I would certainly appreciate it. I did a survey of Grade 6 kids' attitudes to environmental issues as part of my Masters. It can't be published but I can send you a copy if you are interested.

This doesn't address curriculum directly, but there's a great high-production-quality teaching tool for a good attitude about problem solving for CO2 and energy challenges from Hollywood * Apollo 13. This movie presents the challenges emerging in a spaceshit microcosm to retool the CO2 filters to prevent lethal conditions, and to crank down power requirements to 12 amps to allow preparation for re-entry without overall system failure, are presented as edge-of-the-seat dramas * the struggle to recognize each of them in turn as the priority mission focus, the human ingenuity and determination mobilized to solve them, the ecstasy upon each success throughout the mission team * and the world.

Hi, Harry,

Wisconsin developed an environmental literacy assessment tool and conducted a statewide assessment of students (3,500 students grade 5 & 12), teachers, and administrators in 1994. You can the "EE in Wisconsin: Are We Walking the Talk?" report located on the Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education website at www.uwsp.edu/cnr/wcee/pubs.htm. The survey questions with the response frequencies are in appendices A and B.
