Hello all -
I happen to have a friend who works as a legislative assistant to a rep in New Jersey, and next week the rep's office is having a "legislative brainstorming session" to put ideas forward that the office thinks the rep should push. I wanted to send him a couple of the creative environmental initiatives that are out there- but I'm not sure where to look. Any websites, organizations, or initiatives that have really creative legislative solutions for sustainability are good places to start for me.
Thanks a lot!

You and the legislative assistant may want to be aware that three hundred and seven (of New Jersey's plethora of 566) municipalities belong to an Environmental Joint Insurance Fund (JIF), where a big part of their mission is to design and enforce new environmental programs and good mnangement practices among their members. The JIF also cooperates on continuing environmental education for their members, and interacts on members behalf with the State Department of Environmental Protection. We have already implemented stormwater pollution planning practices, spill prevention and countermeasures, worked on improving recycling, and a number of other programs with a good measure of success (especially considering where they started from. If you are interested in any additional information, please feel free to contact me for further contacts or program details.
