I am seeking ways to encourage people to grow their own vegetables. At the same time we are trying to calculate how much a back yard vegetable garden is contributing to decreasing a householders carbon footprint. Any help with references would be very much appreciated.

The LifeCycles project in Victoria, BC Canada has a food miles calculator and lists other models and inspiration. Could be a good reference point and the miles could be converted to tonnes carbon.
