Hi Everyone,
Our Council has identified that food consumption contibutes a large amount to the overall ecological footprint of our residents and would like to run a project that would result in the reduction of this part of our footprint.
Does anyone have any experience with running projects that concern reducing the impact of food consumption/ food systems in general? If they could share what aspect of food consumption they targeted, how they did that and how they measured the effects I would be very grateful!
Thanks,

Hi Sarah,
Are you aware of the work of the Sydney Fair Food Alliance? www.sydneyfoodfairness.org.au They have done some fantastic work around sustainable food within the community and with many councils, and are holding a Summit on the 22nd and 23rd October which you may wish to attend.

Thanks Jo & Andrea,
Although I can't attend the workshop in Warragul, if there are any notes available from the workshop discussions I would be interested in reading them(if so my email is [email protected]). I look forward to attending the SFFAs summit this month and getting some ideas there too. Thanks for the references as well.
Regards,
Sarah

Hi Sarah,
Next Tuesday 6 October we are running a one day conference in Warragul, Victoria on "Food, Farming & Health", exploring the links between farming and food systems. We have some excellent speakers lined up and will have workshops to examine the way we grow, distribute and share healthy food. It is a great opportunity to get into grassroots networking and strengthen the links between farmers, food processors and health professionals. This is at a much broader level than your question, but provides context about sustainable production and distribution of healthy foods. Andrew Campbell will be speaking, he has just completed a couple of informative reports on food systems in Australia for the ACF. There are more details of our conference program and workshops on www.aginc.wordpress.com .
