Hello;
I am compiling an inventory of national / Canadian environmental leadership awards for Canadian companies who reduce their environmental footprint. Any recommendations or leads would be very helpful.

Climate Change Central (or C3 as it was rebranded) closed its doors this week and ceased operations - somewhat prophetically as Archbishop Desmond Tutu was making global news about the environmental impact of Alberta's oil sands.
C3 had been trying to transition from an Alberta government institution fully funded by the taxpayers to an independent NGO adopting a fee for service model.
Climate Change Central received an Alberta Emerald Award for its environmental programing in 2011.
Despite the level of professionalism and thoroughness that characterized C3's work, the transition from a public to non-profit sector was daunting at a time when most corporations are developing high profile sustainability and environmental business units themselves.
Calgary is the corporate heart of Canada's oil and gas sector and it is also well known as the very sprawling suburban city with the Ecofootprint of New York.

Hi Coro,
Here in Alberta I know of the Emerald Awards (www.emeraldfoundation.ca) which probably should be included in your inventory.
By the way, it's neat to see a familiar name. You facilitated a Parks Canada workshop I attended when I lived and worked in Victoria.
Good luck!
