Hello,
I am looking for reports/articles on what motivates building/business owners to improve the energy efficiency of the commercial space they own/occupy and what stops them from doing so. By commercial space, I mean non-government owned, non-industrial space. By improving energy efficiency, I mean actions such as lighting upgrades, retro-commissioning, HVAC system replacements, and insulation and air sealing of the building shell. I have reviewed the article database at this website, as well as the publications at aceee.org.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi Jan,
I work with Southern California Edison on agricultural conservation issues. They also have a website that addresses other energy issues. Check them out; you may find some helpful ideas there.

Here in Cincinnati, Messer Construction has achieved LEED for Existing Buildings and did it by optimizing lighting and HVAC performance. They paid for their USGBC Certification in 15 months with $3000 per month savings. Get in touch with me via [email protected] if you would like to get in touch with Kurt Bouley, the person in charge of the project. Thanks for asking.
