Get Energized, Iowa! is a highly replicable approach that used a range of tools to encourage individuals and whole communities to sign up for weatherization audits and achieve high gas and electricity savings based on actual usage, with excellent cost-effectiveness. It builds on the central role of ones community in regulating personal choices and behavior.

Get Energized, Iowa! Was designated a Landmark case study in 2015. Panelists were impressed by the programs impacts, innovation, replicability to other locations, and adaptability to other behaviors. They also liked how existing organizations in each community served as the local guide teams, to build on existing relationships, familiarity, and trust.

Panelists included members from on-the-ground programs (including Ryan Lanyon from the City of Toronto and Patricia Lucy from Translink) as well as from some of North Americas most proactive consulting, NGO, and government organizations supporting sustainable transportation professionals (including Chuck Wilsker from the U.S. Telework Coalition, David Levinger from The Mobility Education Foundation, Geoff Noxon from Noxon Associates, Jacky Kennedy from Green Communities Canada, Nathalie Lapointe from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, and Phil Winters from the University of South Florida.)
