We are looking for existing or innovative ways of managing garbage and recycling in very high rise buildings (15-25 stories). These buildings will likely be located in high density areas therefore truck movements will need to be limited.

Hi Kerry,
I'd suggest you contact City of Melbourne where some good things have been happening with high rise buildings and waste/recyclables collection, and a bylaw change to better manage trucks in the CBD.
From my own experience when I trialled the collection of recyclables from a few high rise blocks in Auckland, the critical components were a keen building manager and a nimble and adaptable service (smaller trucks, different collection times, etc). Having some means of controlling trucks on the roads is obviously useful, as is a waste management plan that has to be submitted at the time any design consents are sought.
Kind regards

New York has done a lot of good work in very dense areas in terms of innovative composting and waste management solutions. I'd look to them!

Hi Kerry,
Not sure how helpful it is, but in the UK, WRAP have come out with some great advice about waste collections in flats - there could be something useful for you in here?
