Hi everyone,

Bestselling author Dan Heath has come out with another fantastic book this year, called Upstream: The quest to solve problems before they happen. Behavioural Scientist published an excerpt from his book that outlines how various stakeholders in Iceland came together to tackle a pervasive national problem of alcohol and drug abuse among teens. It is amazing to see how over a 20-year period, teen culture shifted from regular late-night partying on the streets to healthier behaviours such as participating in sports and spending more time with family. Heath recognizes that tackling a problem upstream isn't easy. He talks about how "surrounding the problem" by getting the right people together is key, since each of them have different influences on the teens. If you're interested, you can read the excerpt here
