On October 1-3, social marketers from across North America will descend on my hometown, Victoria, BC, to attend the North American Social Marketing Conference 2026. NASMC 26 will illustrate how social marketing is being applied to complex challenges across health, environment, and safety. The conference program is built around sharing what works, what doesn’t, and what comes next, with a focus on approaches that can be adapted, scaled, or transferred into practice.

NASMC has a strong track record of bringing people together who go on to collaborate, partner, and develop new projects. Whether you’re looking to exchange ideas, find collaborators, or expand your professional network, the conference creates the conditions for meaningful connection.

This is not a passive conference. It is a working space for testing ideas, sharing lessons, and engaging with others who are tackling similar challenges. You’ll leave with practical insight, fresh perspectives, and a clearer sense of how to strengthen your own work.

The conference includes three tracks: environment, health, and safety. The environmental track explores how social marketing can contribute to environmental sustainability and support behavior change in response to climate and ecological challenges. The health track focuses on the role of social marketing in improving health outcomes, enhancing wellbeing, and addressing the broader determinants of health. Finally, the safety track examines how social marketing can be applied to improve safety outcomes across a range of settings and populations. It focuses on preventing harm, reducing risk, and promoting behaviors that protect individuals and communities. If you'd like to learn more or possibly present at the conference, you can learn more here. I hope to see you in Victoria in early October!
