I am researching benefits and barriers to the uptake of appropriate flood preparedness and response behaviours. I would also like to find out about successful CBSM programs for people to prepare and maintain home flood plans. Does anyone have any leads please? I'll send a literature review report when finished.

Neil,
Winnipeg resides on a flood plain, so this is a continual challenge for our city. Last summer was one of the wettest summers on record, so I am currently conducting a study to find out: * If residents have basement flood protection (backwater valves, sump pits, etc.). * If they don't have basement flood protection, why not and what would motivate them to take preventative steps. * If they do have basement flood protection, why they have done so and what they think could be done to get other residents to do the same. * Find out their recall on any information we've provided on basement flood protection. The study will be completed by mid-March so I'll be able to share any findings at that time. Our City's website has the information we've distributed: http://www.winnipeg.ca/waterandwaste/sewage/basementFlooding.stm As well I've also found the following sites that also have programs: City of Regina: http://www.regina.ca/content/info_services/water_sewer/flood_control.sht ml City of Saskatoon: http://www.city.saskatoon.sk.ca/org/municipal_engineering/flood/index.as p City of Toronto: http://www.toronto.ca/water/sewers/basement_flooding.htm City of Edmonton: http://www.edmonton.ca/portal/server.pt/gateway/PTARGS_0_2_276_216_0_43/ http%3B/CMSServer/COEWeb/household/flood+relief/ City of Ottawa: http://ottawa.ca/city_services/waterwaste/backups_en.shtml City of Vancouver: http://www.city.vancouver.bc.ca/engsvcs/watersewers/sewers/floodpreventi on.htm If you could share any of your findings with me, it would be greatly appreciated.
