I'm trying to find information about an energy consumption behavior study reportedly done in Sweden, in which electrical meters in private homes were given visual happy/sad face indicators. In the houses with meters, 30% energy reduction was observed. Any help finding this, or similar data would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Lisa

I am not familiar with the particular Swedish study, but I just came across some interesting information about "real time" dashboards that monitor household and building consumption and display the results to occupants. This has been done at one or two US universities, and I hear they are doing it at one of the local government laboratories, too. There will be a presentation on this approach to energy consumption behavioral changes at the upcoming Rocky Mountain Sustainability Summit (US). Here is a link to the company that is presenting at the summit http://www.luciddesigngroup.com/. I've browsed their site and see that they have some case studies for universities and LEED buildings, but I'm not sure about residential applications. If you are in the US, you might ask around at your local chapter of the AIA (American Institute of Architects) or the US Green Building Council for more information or studies. I'm very interested in energy consumption through real-time monitoring and would love to share information offline.
