Hi all
I am currently developing a 100 or so day event for Western Australia aimed at broad scale behaviour change in the community around climate change. We are not developing specifics yet but imagine a combination of high level promotion and message sending through the media with grassroots actions and support through existing community and business networks. Monitoring of emissions reductions state wide and commitments to emissions reductions are also envisioned. We are aiming to use a community engagement processes to develop the specifics and so in effect the event will start well before Feb 2009. Has anyone else got experience or thoughts on
1) How to engage the community in developing such an event.
2) How to run behaviour change on a broad scale but still rely on face to face support and networks. (for eg: has anyone used a Tupperware type model for beh change) I look forward to hearing peoples thoughts
Kind Regards

Hi Julian
I know Tim Moore (aka Ranger Tim) from the Queensland EPA is doing some good work in the area of Climate Change. I believe it is the best program in Australia targeting behavioural climate change. He is currently Managing a major program called Climate Smart. You should checkout the QLD EPA Climate Smart program and give Tim a call in the New Year. ([email protected] or 07 3227 6678) He is pretty business but approachable. The best advice I can give you is, see if you can develop a partnership with the QLD EPA i.e. share or develop new resources or even ask Tim if he is interested in doing some consulting on climate change behavioural change campaign development. Good luck with your program.
Merry Christmas
