Carbon Footprint Calculators I'm looking for the most informative, most accurate, most comprehensive, most user friendly carbon footprint calculators to pass on to clients and readers of my blog - the New American Village. There are more and more out there each month. Any suggestions? Leads? Favorites?
Here's a new calculator that covers household and transportation uses: http://lowimpactliving.com/pages/impact-calculator/impact-calculator

I found this calculator to be handy for comparing various forms of travel etc. It gives you a field by field update as you go through, so you can see the results for various choices. I havent looked closely at their methodology, however. http://www.carbonfootprint.com/calculator.aspx

Hello
The New Hampshire Carbon Challenge (http://carbonchallenge.sr.unh.edu/index.jsp) located at the University of New Hampshire has developed a residential carbon estimator (http://carbonchallenge.sr.unh.edu/calculator.jsp) which works great in the New England area and beyond. It takes about 15 minutes to complete and all you need to know in advance is: My household uses kilowatt-hours (KWH) of electricity per year. My household uses gallons of oil per year. My household uses therms of natural gas per year. My household uses gallons of propane per year. My household uses gallons of kerosene per year.

Thanks for some great feedback on Carbon Footprint Calculators. As I mentioned earlier, I'm looking for good (and, did I mention interesting) calculators to recommend on my blog. The purpose: to help people understand the consequences of their actions in the context of environmental impact. It's going to take me a few days to digest the calculators I've received so far. I've also had a very full week catching up after returning from a wedding (mine!) and short honeymoon in Wisconsin recently. So rather than posting calculators on my blog this week, I'm going to continue my "Everything Local" theme for a while longer and post calculators starting the week of June 30th. I appreciate greatly the thoughtful comments and links. Keep 'em coming this week and check for results week after next on the New American Village blog. Also, please feel free to check in for sustainability and livable neighborhood discussions. Scroll down a bit and you'll find a few pics of my lovely wedding in Spring Green, Wisconsin at Unity Chapel - the Lloyd Jones (Frank Lloyd Wright's mother's clan) family chapel. A beautiful bride, and a very sustainable relationship. http://newamericanvillage.blogspot.com

@James Polk: I like the user friendly footprint calculator: http://www.footprintnetwork.org/gfn_sub.php?content=myfootprint by the Global Footprint Network. Though it's not a carbon but ecological calculator...
