We have been given a very tight timeline to create displays for a sustainability/climate change themed community show exhibit. The exhibit will include water, energy, waste, sustainability in the home, transport etc We want to do something different to past ideas, so we are keen to hear form others who have come up with innovative, easy and relatively cheap and/or interactive display ideas. Any interps works that you are willing to share would also be very appreciated.

It seems to me that the CBSM framework, along with a bit of Planned Behaviour theory, is a good framework for an exhibition. Pick a sustainability behaviour(s) that you would like to encourage people to adopt. Develop the ideas around, important issue, an urgent issue, an issue that you can make a difference to, an issue seen as important by others in the community and a behaviour that is effective and easy to do , then look at the CBSM stuff that could be included in the display content and approach - Prompts (to help people remember the behaviour), incentive (what do they save, what cost can they avoid, what benefit do they derive), commitment (can they sign-up for a commitment, I believe that they will be able to receive star ratings in the same way that white goods have a star rating for energy efficiency), convenience (how can you make it easy to implement), communication (what is the key message (s) that you will be using that will be memorable), Norms (who else does it, is it something being widely adopted by community). Then through the exhibition provide an invitation and an opportunity to trial the behaviour(s). How are you going to reinforce the behaviour post exhibition? (follow-up contact, a web contact or confirmation, publishing adoption rates). By the way, yes we have been asked to participate in the same exhibition circuit. Should be interesting to see how government agencies approach this attempt to discuss climate change and sustainability action and engage the community.
