All,
Has anyone created any policies or campaigns to reduce the idling of service vehicles on their campus? We're trying to gauge methods and effectiveness.
Thanks.

Idling for Campus Service Vehicles

I wonder if it's not a better strategy to focus on gradually changing over to electric vehicles (which don't idle). I would think most campus vehicles travel very short distances so electric is a very good option, compared to a standard diesel/gasoline/propane powered vehicle that needs lots of horsepower and the ability to do intercity travel.

Good Day
We have a bylaw in place that we enforce for any vehicle parked in the service vehicle area. Our city has an anit-idling bylaw as well. Signage for anti-idling is in all service vehicle areas on our University campus and the City has place signage at all public facilities. For our campus this has been very effective. Nobody wants to pay the tickets.
bye for now
