Hi Tony,

We have recently completed a survey of commercial fishers beliefs and attitudes with respect to climate change, as part of a project examining the potential impacts of climate change on the Tasmanian Rock Lobster Fishery. The project was one of six case studies of the Department of Climate Change's National Coastal Vulnerability Assessment. Our results are not yet approved for release but I can forward a copy when it is - we were quite surprised by the survey results. The researcher in our study responsible for the fishers' survey was Dr Melissa Nursey-Bray ([email protected])- you could contact her directly if interested.

Hi Tony,

You might find the Department of Environment and Climate Change's "Who Care's About the Environment" series quite useful. Previously the studies were conducted every three years (under the old unit of Department of Environment and Conservation), however due to the recent speed of changing attitudes, they will be conducting the study annually. It is very useful for marketing strategies as it segments the market and gives a break down of the prevailing attitudes, behaviours and beliefs. The only issue is that it has been conducted on NSW citizens, but I'm sure many useful parallels can be drawn.
