Has anyone been using film and video in their campaigns?
I am interested in exploring how we can use different media to simulate community in spreading the message. This involves two elements. First, how can media be used to effect specific change? Second, how can we measure the efficacy of the approach?
There seems to be considerable potential in using media to roll out cbsm on a wider platform. What experience and techniques can we build upon?
I am working with some advocacy campaigns in Vancouver, not just environmental, and your input can inform much of our efforts,

Hi Andreas,
The City of Edmonton, through our LocalMotion Project, hired a local production company (RBCC) to put together 10 video shorts, a mini-documentary and a shorter compilation video to document our project around eco-mobility. The video shorts played weekly on a local cable station and are now available on-line. The mini-doc will be available in the spring of 2010. This is the first time we have documented a project like this in this way.
Ultimately, we are hoping that the mini-doc and/or compilation video can be used by other communities/neighbourhood/municipalities that are interested in implementing community-based projects that encourage eco-mobility.
As far as measuring the "efficacy of the approach", we now have some data for the project as a whole, but not specifically the video piece. More details available at edmonton.ca/localmotion
Please feel free to contact me.
