Hello everyone,
My name is Kristen Ruby and I work for the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA). NEHA is a professional organization that provides continuing education, credentialing, and advocacy for environmental public health professionals. I'm currently working on a research project regarding local government sustainability programs. I'm interested in learning about the different types of programs and initiatives supported, collaborations involved, current trends and hot issues, and frustrations. This feedback will provide NEHA with a better understanding of the sustainability field and how environmental public health fits into it. Your input will also help NEHA determine future programs and endeavors that can provide needed support and training for sustainability and environmental public health professionals.
If you would be interested in sharing your perspectives with me, please contact me at [email protected]. I would like to then set up a phone interview with you that will take about 20-30 minutes. Thank you for considering my request.
Regards,
Kristen

Hi Kristen
My colleagues have drawn my attention to your request for information on local government information/tools. In Wales, the Welsh Local government Association represents all local authorities in Wales [22 all together]. We work with the Welsh Assembly Government [the executive arm of the National Assembly for Wales - a devolved legislative body]where sustainable development has been made the central organising principle for the public sector in Wales. The national strategy is 'One Wales, One Planet, available on the Welsh Assembly Government website. We have developed a Sustainable Development Framework for local government that seeks to provide information, practical action and good practice case studies for officer and Council members working on different policy areas. We are trying to embed sustainable development corporately so that it is considered in all planning, policy decisions and service delivery. To see this in more detail you can visit the WLGA website.
