We are proposing on a contract to pilot a Strategic Energy Mgmt program at a US DoD facility. It includes "employee engagement" as per the new ISO standard, ISO 50001. It seems to me that a military hierarchical environment would pose some unique dynamics and possibilities for CBSM, and I've got a really interesting one in mind. Does anyone else have any thoughts on how to use this unique environment in an innovative way? Does anyone have any papers they could point me at?
BTW, Doug, I saw you present at GovEnergy in Cincinnati a couple of weeks ago. You were a breath of fresh air after several days of "same old, same old" energy awareness campaign strategies. Thanks.

Paul: You might want to follow-up with Fort Lewis. I've done two training workshops at Fort Lewis and they have likely implemented cbsm programs as a result.

I was unaware of the handbook as well as Ft Lewis' cbsm effort. Thanks to both of you for the excellent referrals.

Hi all,
Another good group to contact could be the Alice Solar Cities program who have worked with the US military here in Australia. Pine Gap workers and their families makes up nearly 7% of the Alice Springs population, and part of my job will be to approach Pine Gap workers to reduce water use. Thanks for the resource above, and any other tips are welcome.

Hi Paul,
I'm sure you are aware of attached "Handbook For Promoting Behavior-Based Energy Efficiency in Military Housing" prepared for DOE in 2000. There was also a pilot done on two bases Fort Lewis, Washington and Yuma, Arizona.
